Hike Les Agudes , Castellets way
Castellets (Small castles) is a mountain ridge on the northern of Les Agudes summit at 1,706 m (5,590 ft) above sea level. This peack is placed into the emblematic Montseny Natural Park. The Castellets hike is a fantastic and easy rock-climb. It’s a hike you can’t miss.
Duration: 5h hike; Elevation gain: 845 m (2,700 ft) .; Difficulty: Difficult, it is a easy rock-climbing. You should have mountainering expertice, you will rock-climb rock steps and some aerial channels. So, you should be in good physical condition.
Itinerary:
You will start the hike from the car park of Pla d’en Mon 1,118 m. near the Gap of Sesferreres. The path goes a long the beech forest reaching the Jep Xic plain 1,300 m. and then the Saciureda de Gap pass 1380 m.
Saucireda is the beginning of the Castellets ridge we reach the Saciureda de Dalt pass 1,410 m. and we pass the first Petit Castell (castle) to reach a gap at 1,475 m. From there you climb the Gros Castell. From this point we climb to an intersection of ways. Here, You have to rock-climbing the last aerial section, through canals and the ridge, to reach Les Agudes 1,706 m. The climg from the vehicle will take you about 2h15.
On the Les Agudes top you will enjoy the scenic views of Santa Fe, La Selva countryside with it town of Arbúcies, The Turo del Home, The Matagalls summit. To the Nord you can see the Eastern Pyrenees, with its hihgest summits of Puigmal and Canigó. To the South you can see Montnegre and Corredor ranges and faraway the Mediterran Ocean.
The hike now (in half an hour) goes along the top of the range untill Turo del Home at the same elevation as les Agudes. There you will hike down to the source of Briançó and through the spectacular beech forest across the pass the Porrassar de Dalt just on the east side of Les Agudes. Then you’ll walk to close the circle track, and get the car park where you left your vehicle. From Turo del Home till car park will take you about 1h15′.
Gear:
You must bring sunscreen, sunglasses, cap, hiking boots, windstopper jacket, gloves and helmet (if you do not have one ask the guide). The guide will bring a rope. Please bring as well some food and water.
